Shot Tower Museum |
Melbourne Central permanent state-of-the-art Shot Tower museum dedicated to the heritage listed 'Coops Shot Tower'.
The Shot Tower Museum explores both the history of Melbourne and the building's fascinating history, from its early 19th Century beginnings as Melbourne's tallest building and manufacturer of lead shot, to its culmination as the epicentre of Melbourne's best retail experience.
The technology, never before seen in Australia and made famous in the Tom Cruise movie Minority Report, allows each visitor to control the data displayed on the computer without using a mouse. Simple hand gestures work seamlessly with installed software and allow users to actively control all aspects of the dynamic screen content.
The first public space dedicated to the history of Melbourne successfully combines fringe-forward technology with old world-charm and is made up of two chambers.
The first - featuring the gesturing screen - focuses on the general history and transformation of Melbourne, while the second is relative to the history of the Shot Tower.
Shot Tower Museum is located inside the second floor of the tower and is open 7 days a week.
