A forbidden bar and nightspot dedicated to fine drinks and fun times hidden away in Melbourne's Hardware Lane.
After being awarded "New Bar of the Year 2006"at the 6th Annual Australian Bar Awards, Golden Monkey went one better and took home the honour of "Bar Of The Year 2007"at the 7th Annual Australian Bar Awards.
It has always been our aim to provide you - our friends and guests - with 1st class standards, service, and quality. To do this we've gone outside the proverbial lounge bar 'box', with the aim of creating an unforgettable sensory experience, rather than just another bar to have a drink in!
Through the door & down the staircase into our 1920's style "Indiana Jones-esque"Opium Den, delicate aromas of the Orient capture your senses. We (the good looking ones) guide you to a place at the bar or one of our hidden away tables. Refreshing cucumber water is served to cleanse your palate, ready for a taste explosion in solid & liquid form, chosen from one of the most comprehensive, educational & enjoyable menus you've ever read.
Throughout our menu you will see incredible Asian cuisine complementing a wonderful cocktail list: innovative Asian themed house cocktails. All of our drinks are made with the finest ingredients we can lay our paws on. Glance through our library of luxury products and you'll see one of the best premium spirit selections in Melbourne, served by some of the most knowledgeable staff around.

Open Thursday, Friday, & Saturday: 5pm - Late. Free entry.
We feature live bands playing R&B and pop on Thursdays from 9pm, and DJs playing party tunes from all eras and genres on Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm.
Available for private functions and events Sunday - Wednesday.
