34TH ANNUAL ROTARY CLUB OF SORRENTO ART SHOW
SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Each year, in January, we stage our Annual Rotary Club Sorrento Art Show at the Sorrento Community Centre, Morce Street, David Macfarlan Reserve, Sorrento.

This year, 2018, we celebrate over three significant decades of our highly respected art show. This event is an integral part in the vibrant fabric of the buoyant arts culture on the Mornington Peninsula, giving artists, new, emerging and established, a great opportunity to showcase their works.

Oils, watercolours, acrylics and ink contribute to a dynamic exhibition, giving enjoyment to those who traditionally attend and those coming for the first time, adding to the rich cultural life that one can experience in this community. There are diverse, wide ranging and unique works by leading artists, many of whom have won awards some of whom call the peninsula home.

Considered to be the most prestigious art event on the southern peninsula, the first was held in 1984 in the small local hall in Queens Road, Sorrento, raising a magnificent $350.00. In a just a few years the exhibition developed outgrowing the space. Subsequently the show was relocated to the Sorrento Community Centre, where it remains today. In the past years over 800 entries are received each year for viewing and for sale from local and interstate artists.

In 2016 the Club gave over $95,000 to the community. Money raised is given to local community projects and was distributed to benefit the community. This is one of many fundraising projects organised by our Rotary Club of Sorrento Members.(see Projects)

Each year a distinguished artist is asked to judge the entries. This year we are honoured to have Lyn Mellady as the judge. The Feature Artists for this year are Rose Todman Parrant, Jayne Henderson, John Whitelaw, Ev Hales & Ron Farnhill

Corporate and business sponsors are of immeasurable value to our club – RT Edgar, 3AW-693/Magic 1278, Searoad Ferries & Coastcom – We thank them for their ongoing support.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THIS YEAR.
