Albert Park Lake is a man made lake situated in Albert Park bordered by Albert Road, Queens Road, Fitzroy Street and Canterbury Road.

The park is roughly 2.25 square kilometres of parkland including Albert Park Lake with many different sporting facilities including parks, sporting grounds, sports facilities, golf course, walking track, race track (Grand Prix) and aquatic centre.

Being only 3km from Melbourne CBD, Albert Park is popular for a range of activities like dog walking, jogging, cycling, sailing and rowing. Numerous sporting events are held in the park along with festivals.

A wide variety of events are held at Albert Park throughout the year, with events ranging from fun runs, sporting tournaments, international and national levels of competition.

Albert Park is on Crown Land, managed by Parks Victoria.

Lake Activities

Rowing The rowing clubs at Albert Park Lake operate weekly races and annual regattas. The Albert Park South Melbourne Rowing Club operate from the Plant-Williamson Rowing Pavilion.

You can swim, dive or try out the indoor sports facilities and fitness gym at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre.

Aquatic Drive

The Point Restaurant and the lake front boardwalk are both accessible from Aquatic Drive. This picturesque part of the lake has great views over the sailing area and the St Kilda Road skyline.

Swan Picnic Area

The Swan picnic area is at the very northern end of the park offering a large area of trees providing a relaxing, shady location on a summers afternoon. Access is via Albert Road with the main parking area off Albert Road Drive.
