48 Exhibition Walk, Clayton 3800

The 508 seat Alexander Theatre is a remarkably flexible venue which makes it ideal for virtually any form of live performance.

The Alexander Theatre is an architectural landmark of Monash University's Clayton campus. Since opening in 1967, it has played a defining role in the history of performing arts at the University and served as the host venue for numerous local, regional and national performing arts organisations.

It is a beautifully intimate Proscenium Arch theatre while remaining large enough to be commercially viable. The stage features a full fly tower, a fore-stage lift providing a full size orchestra pit and a fully adjustable proscenium.

The Alexander Theatre, opened in 1967, and gained international recognition when a model and photographs of it were displayed at the opening of the Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington in 1972.

The Alexander Theatre is part of a $45 million dollar performing arts centre redevelopment at Monash University.

The Alexander Theatre redevelopment was completed in April 2018 and includes a state of the art Meyer Sound Constellation system; engineered to give audiences the best sound experience available and the first of its kind in Australia.

The Alexander Theatre is located at Monash University in Clayton.
