Australian Alpaca Association

The Victorian Western Region Alpaca Group (Alpacas Vic. West), is one of the 14 regions of The Australian Alpaca Association, and is located in Victoria, which is the most south-eastern state on the mainland.

Victoria is divided into three administrative regions (Western, Central and Eastern) which function independently, though joining forces each year to conduct the major Victorian Alpaca Shows together. Melbourne, the capital of the state, is the focus point for the regions.

The Victorian Western region consists predominantly of grazing and cropping land with low average rainfall, but it also has a substantial moist coastal boundary. Spend some time with us now and see what our region has to offer the existing or potential alpaca breeder.

Property sizes vary greatly from large broad acreage properties to smaller hobby farms closer to regional centres.

The backdrop of the Great Ocean Road and the Otway Ranges creates a superb atmosphere to hold the region's numerous shows. The Alpaca Fest, Tyrendarra Fleece Show and the Hamilton Sheepvention not only provide networking and learning opportunities, but also help members prepare for the Royal Melbourne Show.
