"Boomahnoomoonah" was* the longest single-word place name in Victoria is part of the Shire of Moira approximately 12 km southeast of Yarrawonga.
The traditional owners of the land are the Bangerang people, a family group of the Yorta Yorta people.
It's claimed that Boomahnoomoonah is "aboriginal for 'big water' but other local areas also share similar meanings for their names.
Boomahnoomoonah once had its own school, church and post office.
