Council Chambers Gallery Space Program
The display space in the Council is managed by Mitchell Shire Council's Active Communities Department as part of Council's commitment and support of local artists. The Council Chambers provides an excellent opportunity for artists to exhibit work in a prominent location with no hire fee, and provides the general public with an opportunity to view and engage with work by local artists.
Allocations are for a maximum two (2) month period; providing an opportunity for six diverse exhibitions per calendar year. Allocations may be subject to change. Applications are welcome from individuals or local arts groups. There are approximately 20 metres of hanging space along the Council Chamber walls, suitable for two dimensional works. The hanging system can accommodate works up to 20kgs. The hanging system is not lit; only standard lighting is available in the room. In addition, the foyer hosts four internally lit glass display cabinets available for three dimensional works.
