Coburg Hill

THE Victorian Government formally announced the new name of 'Coburg Hill' for the $230 million redevelopment of the former 21-hectare Kodak site at Coburg North.

Premier Ted Baillieu said the development is "an excellent example of urban renewal that will provide much-needed affordable housing offering good access to activity areas, major transport, parklands and other amenities and services."

The development will provide around 400 new dwellings, including affordable housing, and will be home to around 1,200 people when complete.

The site was previously used by Kodak as a film manufacturing plant until its closure in 2004. House and land packages will be available from June 2011, with the first homes expected to be completed by April 2012.

"Land uses change over time, and the vacant Kodak site is a great place for residential development given Coburg's status as a growing activity area and its proximity to infrastructure and services,"Planning Minister Matthew Guy said.
