A Christmas Favourite Comes to Melbourne

Christmas is arriving early as Elf The Musical makes its long-awaited Melbourne premiere at the new CROWN LIVE theatre this November.

Based on the much-loved Christmas film starring Will Ferrell, the Broadway musical tells the heartwarming and hilarious story of Buddy, a young orphan who accidentally crawls into Santa's sack of toys on Christmas Eve. Raised by elves at the North Pole, Buddy grows up believing he is one of them before discovering he is actually human.

Determined to find where he truly belongs, Buddy travels to New York City in search of his birth father. Along the way he faces a father on Santa's naughty list, a sceptical half-brother who doesn't believe in Santa, and the challenge of helping restore the true spirit and magic of Christmas.

A Broadway Musical Filled with Festive Cheer

This full-scale Broadway production features an original score by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, whose credits include Disney's Aladdin on Broadway and The Wedding Singer. The book is by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan, known for Annie, The Producers and Hairspray, together with Bob Martin, co-creator of The Drowsy Chaperone.

Packed with colourful characters, memorable songs, dazzling choreography and plenty of festive humour, Elf The Musical has become a Christmas favourite for audiences around the world.

Australian audiences have warmly embraced the production, with The AU Review describing it as "the Christmas wish you're looking for". Time Out praised Gareth Isaac's performance as Buddy the Elf, while Broadway World called the production "a live theatre treat for all the family".
