Set to be a major health and environmental asset for thousands of residents, a new 2.5 hectare park and wetlands sanctuary worth more than $6.8 million has opened at Enclave, Ascot Vale.

Located just seven kilometres from Melbourne's CBD, the open space addition to Mirvac's Enclave Master Planned Community includes an expansive network of open water bodies, planted wetlands and grassed lawns.

Designed by renowned MDG Landscape Architects, the park aims to encourage active and healthy living, through almost a kilometre of walking trails and a circuit path winding around the lakes and wetlands, with viewing platforms over the water.

Enriching the local ecosystem, the wetlands are planted with more than 27,000 indigenous wetland plants to provide water quality treatment and a habitat for local fauna and families of ducks.

Designed to accommodate the varying needs of the community, the park amenities include a picnic shelter overlooking the lake with barbecue facilities, communal seating and an innovative play space.

With a 20 metre long flying fox, swings, slides, climbing and balancing activities, the Enclave play equipment is integrated into a natural environment to stimulate imaginative child's play.

The community is surrounded by significant amenity including parkland, an adjoining golf course and sporting oval, Flemington Racecourse and retail services in nearby shopping strips Union Road, Puckle Street and Highpoint Shopping Centre.
