Federation Bells

Federation Bells

The delightful Federation Bells are located in Birrarung Marr park behind Federation Square in Melbourne.

Federation Bells comprise 39 upturned bells cast in bronze alloys and range from 500 grams to 1.2 tonnes.

Following a recent refurbishment, the bells are sounding better than ever: they can be heard daily 8-9am, 12.30-1.30pm and 5pm-6pm. More than 100 compositions have been created for the Federation Bells and many of them can be heard in an evolving weekly schedule.

The Federation Bells installation was opened by Sir Gustav Nossal on the 26th January 2002.

The bells can usually be heard within about 100 metres in the relatively quiet riverside park.
