O'Brien Icehouse is a sports and entertainment centre located in Docklands. With two Olympic-sized rinks, it is Australia's largest ice arena.
It's available for public skating and various ice sports events. Lessons and games are offered for figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating and curling.
The world-class facility also hosts national and international figure skating events and is home to two Australian Ice Hockey League teams - Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs - as well as the Melbourne Ice Women's team.
Whether you're stepping onto the ice the first time or you're an experienced ice hound, we've got so many ways for you to enjoy getting into the rink you won't be able to get out.
We have no age restrictions - the smallest skates we have are toddler size 7 so if they fit, they can skate!
PUBLIC SKATING
Whether you're a seasoned ice skater or you're making your way out onto the ice for the first time, public skating sessions at O'Brien Group Arena are the perfect opportunity to have some fun.

PLAN YOUR VISIT
To make your experience a memorable one some basic planning will help your visit.
Tickets to any events or recreational skating can be booked online. Beat the queues and print your ticket before you arrive.
WHAT TO WEAR
Before you leave home you will need to know what to wear. The air temperature in O'Brien Group Arena is a mild 16 degrees, it is best to dress snug. Comfortable, warm clothes are recommended: Layering your clothes is also advised - although you may feel cold when you arrive, a few laps around the rink will get you warm in no time.
GETTING HERE
There are many alternatives modes of transport as O'Brien Group Arena is centrally located only 2 kilometers from the CBD. Our address is 105 Pearl River Road, Docklands

CAR
Take the Footscray Road, Docklands exit off the Bolte Bridge, travelling in an east-bound direction, simply turn right at Costco. If travelling west-bound along Footscray Road, enter Pearl River Road directly, turn left after Costco.
Harbour Town West Car Park (88 Pearl Rover Road) is the closest and easiest for parking. Additional parking can be found at the Harbour Town East Car Park (90 Waterfront Way) More info & pricing can be found on their website.
*Please note: Members parking discounts are only valid at the West Car Park.
TRAM
Take the free City Circle tram (from Flinders street or La Trobe Street) direct to the Waterfront City, Docklands stop or from the CBD take the free Tram 70 (via Flinders Street) and Tram 86 (via Bourke Street) will also take you to the Waterfront City, Docklands stop. O'Brien Group Arena is only a 5 minute from the last stop along Pearl River Road which is at the set of traffic lights just past the tram stop.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
When you arrive, if you haven't bought a ticket online, purchase your ticket and a locker token from the front desk.
There are always friendly ice ambassadors around, wearing blue jackets, who can help you get your skating legs. Don't be shy!
SKATE & HELMET HIRE
To get off to a skate start, there's one essential item: the skates themselves. We have two kinds on offer and which you choose is up to you. Find out all you need to know here.
FOOD & DRINK
All the skating will have you work up an appetite! Our cafe is open for a range of snacks, meals and warm and cold drinks. Because our food is so yummy external food and beverages cannot be brought into and consumed in the venue.
