The Joel Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space designed to provide a quality yet affordable opportunity for professional and community artists.
The Louis Joel Centre is located on the site of the former Altona Hospital, and has been developed over the past decade by the Hobsons Bay Community Advancement Co-Operative to become a dynamic community owned and managed meeting place that offers community wellbeing, arts and cultural services to the residents of Hobsons Bay.
The Joel Gallery opened in 2006 with aims to promote the value and importance of the arts in Hobsons Bay by developing and maintaining a diverse program of visual arts exhibitions. It also seeks to support and strengthen the capacity of local artists to engage with the community and initiate programs that assist with community cultural development while ensuring equity of access for all.
