The Australian Karate Federation (Vic) Inc. is a volunteer organisation dedicated to promoting traditional karate practice and values.
Amongst other things, the AKF:
Hosts two major karate tournaments per year: the Victorian Championship and the Victorian Open (Only AKF members are eligible to enter the Victorian Championship. However, non-members as well as members are welcome to enter the Open.)
Arranges team training for eligible AKF athletes to assist skill acquisition
Selects a team of athletes as its representatives in the AKF National Championships
Recommends an athlete for selection in the AKF National squad
Invites high profile and high performance coaches to hold seminars and training sessions to increase the standard of Victorian karate.
We are affiliated with the National body of the Australian Karate Federation, which in turn is recognised by the Australian Olympic Committee.
Since the inaugural Australian Karate Championship in 1970, Victoria has produced many of the country's finest karate competitors. Every year Victorian athletes win numerous gold, silver and bronze medals in all categories.
We continue to maintain this high standard and strive to provide our athlete's with the best quality coaching and support available.
