Knox Regional Sports Park

The Knox Regional Sports Park is the newest sports and recreation centre in Wantirna South and was officially opened in 2012.

The 27-hectare site adjacent to EastLink has become a new home for the State Basketball Centre and Knox Regional Football Centre.

Funding was committed from a partnership comprising the Australian and Victorian governments, Knox City Council and contributions from key stakeholders. Council provided the biggest single component of funding, with contributions also from Football Federation Victoria, Knox Basketball Incorporated and Basketball Victoria.

Key features

Melbourne An indoor sports stadium, with six courts, with a capacity for up to 3,200-seat show court;
Melbourne Two synthetic soccer pitches and associated soccer pavilion, with public toilets;
Melbourne Open grassed areas for informal recreation;
Melbourne Grassed field and operations area for the Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS);
Melbourne Outdoor plaza and forecourt at the front of the basketball stadium;
Car parking areas with associated landscaping;
Melbourne Groups of predominantly native and indigenous trees;
Melbourne Pathways connecting key elements of the reserve and to shared trails surrounding the reserve.

State Basketball Centre


The State Basketball Centre is the new home of Basketball Victoria and Knox Basketball Inc and was officially opened on Friday 22 June 2012.

This brand new indoor sports stadium features six basketball courts with two courts marked for netball, a show court with seating for up to 3,200 people; meeting rooms; a basketball retail store and cafeteria.

The State Basketball Centre has already hosted the Australian Boomers and Opals basketball teams in pre-Olympic games and the Knox Raiders in SEABL games and finals.

Knox Regional Football Centre


The Knox Regional Football Centre is the first purpose-built five-a-side outdoor soccer facility in Victoria. It features a full size soccer pitch, nine fully enclosed five-a-side synthetic pitches with lighting, a new pavilion with cafe, shop, modern change rooms and plenty of car parking.

It officially opened to the public in December 2011 and is now the home of Football Fives competitions and are also available for casual hire.

VARMS


The Victorian Association of Radio Model Soaring (VARMS) operates from the airfield located at the Knox Regional Sports Park. The airfield consists of a runway and club house as well as a large gliding field. VARMS offers training classes with dual controlled gliders for community members who wish to try their hand in aerogliding as well as a variety of membership packages.
