Kyneton is a thriving country town with art galleries, shops for craft, books, nurseries, gifts, food, wine and clothing providing an exciting experience to visit.
Regular events include the Kyneton Farmers' Market and the anuual Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival as well as the Kyneton Racecourse hosts 15 meetings each year.
In the early 1850s Kyneton developed as a gateway to the goldfields of Clunes, Castlemaine and Bendigo. In 1858 Caroline Chisholm lived at Kyneton where her family owned a store and her husband was a magistrate. The rail link from Melbourne arrived in 1862.
Historic Piper Street
Piper Street is the home of many of Kyneton's restaurants and cafes, eclectic shops, antique shops, galleries and many historic buildings in their original state, including the Kyneton Museum.

Positioned on the sidewall of the Town Hall facing north, the direction of the Redesdale regional fire on 7th February, 2009. 280 tiles include contributions from fire affected residents and the supportive local, interstate and international community, as well as other fire affected regions across the state.
With close proximity to Melbourne and Melbourne Airport, easy access via the Calder Freeway and the excellent train service makes it a great place to live or a fabulous destination for a days outing, a short stay, a base to explore the area or to operate a business.
