Kyneton Museum

Take a step back in time and visit the Kyneton Museum in historic Piper Street, Kyneton.

The collection reflects the life and times of Kyneton and district from around the 1850s to the 1930s and is housed in a fine bluestone building that was the former Bank of New South Wales built in 1856.

This imposing two storey blue stone building is typical of the architecture of the district and reflects the wealth created by the gold rush when this region was established.

The Museum offers a glipse of an era that provided opportunities for enterprising people to feed, clothe, and entertain the diggers. Walk through the upstairs private residence, discover the secret cash vault, stroll the outhouses, catch the latest temporary exhibition and talk to the friendly staff.

Hours: Friday, Saturday & Sunday 11am-4pm or by appointment for group bookings.
