Lake Eppalock is perfect for water based activities and family picnics. Constructed on the Campaspe River in the 1960s, this vast lake has always been popular for boating and water recreation.

The safety restrictions and trigger levels were determined following extensive consultation with Marine Safety Victoria, emergency agencies, Victoria Water Police and the local community.

Boat users are asked to be aware of the dangers associated with low water levels and abide to all safety restrictions.

Lake Eppalock was constructed between 1960 and 1964 to provide irrigation from the Campaspe River, and to supply water to Bendigo.

Lake Eppalock supplies irrigation and stock and domestic water to the Campaspe Irrigation district and urban supplies to Bendigo, Heathcote and more recently Ballarat. In years of plentiful water resources, water from Lake Eppalock is used to supplement the Waranga Western Channel that supplies customers in the Rochester and Pyramid-Boort irrigation areas.

Lake Eppalock Holiday Park is a great place to stay. Featuring 2.5 kilometres of sweeping lake frontage, it's a fantastic getaway for families, campers and water enthusiasts. Bring your boat or jet ski for hours of fun, or simply sit back and relax.

Getting There

Lake Eppalock is an easy 30-40 minute drive from Bendigo via the McIvor Highway or Strathfieldsaye Road, and a 15-20 minute drive from Heathcote.

Directions from the CBD
Route 1: From Alexandra Fountain, follow High Street to Chapel Street - turn right. Turn left onto the McIvor Highway at the large roundabout. Follow this through to Lake Eppalock.

Route 2: At Alexandra Fountain, turn right into Mitchell Street, follow it over the railway line then turn left at the lights into Miller Street. At the large roundabout turn into Townsend Street which then becomes Condon Street. Follow this out to Lake Eppalock through Kennington and Strathfieldsaye.
