Lygon Street Restaurants are using sprukers to entice people into their restaurants, and as they are in Europe, the sprukers are damn annoying!
The Josita family wrote to us in March 2009, asking can we highlight the harassment by restaurant promoters along Lygon Street, Carlton.
Complimentary wines and other enticements are shoved at my partner and I as we walked to the restaurant, where we already had a booking.
We saw the manager of "Il Gusto"really annoy some Asian tourists with his banter to encourage their patronage at his restaurant, but they went elsewhere anyway. He should be on stage... It was a good act!
He is not alone. Many on the strip have promoters making random solicitations to passers by in a futile attempt to gain patronage.
What can be done to stop this curb side badgering behavior?
