RSEA Park | Moorabbin Oval |
Moorabbin Oval, officially known as RSEA Park, is the training and administrative base of the St Kilda Football Club.
The club played at the Linton Street ground between 1965 and 1993 hosting 254 AFL/VFL matches, before moving to Waverley Park and now Marvel Stadium. After a period at Seaford, the AFL club has returned to its spiritual home following a redevelopment of the venue.
Moorabbin Oval life as a VFA venue for the Moorabbin Football Club in 1952 before the local Council negotiated with several VFL clubs to move to there.
Eventually, a deal was struck with the St Kilda Football Club and a 75-year lease was signed. Facilities were improved with the construction of a new grandstand and capacity was up around the 50,000 mark.
The Saints first home game against Collingwood in 1965 attracted 51,370 fans - a record attendance which stands today. When the ground hosted its final game in 1993, the capacity was around 27,000.
Moorabbin Oval was the home of the Melbourne Reds in the former Australian Baseball League from 1994 to 1999.
The ground previously featured a main grandstand, the G. G. Huggins Stand and another single-level grandstand stretching the wing plus concrete terracing around the remainder of the ground - both of which were removed following the Saints move to Seaford in 2010.
RSEA PARK
A new partnership for RSEA Safety & the St. Kilda FC
RSEA Safety and the St. Kilda Football Club are proud to announce that they have entered into an agreement for the naming rights for the soon to be redeveloped Saints Moorabbin home base, now known as RSEA Park.
RSEA Managing Director Brandon Chizik said "We are very excited and proud to be part of the journey in bringing the St Kilda Football Club back home to Moorabbin, now to be called RSEA Park. For RSEA, the partnership with the Saints is a great fit. Our head office is right here in Moorabbin, and with the majority of our stores based in Melbourne, we know many of our customers are passionate AFL fans. Adding to this we also see a trend of more players choosing to go into trades post their footy career, a transition we have been happy to assist in.
We look forward to helping shape RSEA Park into a destination which will be enjoyed by the wider community, and to being part of RSEA Park's transformation into a state of the art training and admin facility for the St Kilda Football Club."
