National Water Sports Centre

National Water Sports Centre

The National Water Sports Centre was originally developed in 1988 in preparation for the 1996 Olympic Games, for which Melbourne's bid was ultimately unsuccessful. Today, the 2000 metre rowing course is managed by Parks Victoria.

The centre can be used for a range of water-based activities, such as rowing, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, coarse angling, jet skiing, radio controlled yachting, boat shows, boat testing, and special training sessions.

The Dandenong Creek Valley Bike Trail passes through the National Water Sports Centre and provides an excellent opportunity to view the centre and its surrounds.

The National Water Sports Centre is located approximately 34 kilometres south east of Melbourne along Patterson River in Bangholme (Melways reference: 97 K2).

Opening times
The centre is open to the public for boat testing and waterskiing during the following times:

Tuesday from 11.00am - 3.00pm
Friday from 9.00am - 4.00pm
A Parks Victoria ranger will be onsite during these times to brief visitors on safety information and collect fees for usage.

A full National Water Sports Centre timetable is available. The centre is closed to the public on public holidays and when events are being held on site.

The centre is available for event hire on weekends, contact Parks Victoria on 13 1963 for event information.
