ngurrak barring, meaning "mountain paths" in the Woiwurrung language, is a 39-kilometre walking trail connecting the townships of the Dandenong Ranges.

The trail can be accessed from numerous entry points, allowing walkers to create their own journey based on the time available, fitness level and places they wish to visit.

Along the way you'll encounter public artworks, sculptures and interpretive storytelling signage, providing insight into the region's natural environment, Indigenous heritage and local history.

Themes + Architectural Node

An Architectural Node will sit along the trails of each of the themes. These act as reflective spaces along the trail encouraging pause and deeper immersion in the experience.

Getting There


Public Transport

Join the trails at Belgrave Train Station is in the middle of the 'Country' theme.

Upper Ferntree Gully Train Station connects you to trials along the Resilience theme.

Buses run between Belgrave, Kallista, Sassafras, Ferny Creek, Upper Ferntree Gully, Olinda. Mount Dandenong, Kalorama and Montrose

Parking is dispersed at key points along ngurrak barring.
