Odyssey House Victoria

Odyssey House Victoria

Odyssey House recognises that alcohol and other drug problems can have a significant impact on children and other family members.

The aim of Odyssey House is to create and sustain environments for positive change for those whose lives are affected by drugs and alcohol.

- Through responsive and responsible leadership and management, Odyssey will deliver high quality service outcomes that are accountable and outcome-focused.

- Odyssey will continue to create the best possible environments including an abstinence-based therapeutic community to enable the people who use our services to achieve their potential.

- Odyssey will develop appropriate alliances and partnerships with others to foster best practice in service delivery and development, research, evaluation and training.

About ninety people who have a problem with drug or alcohol addiction -individuals, couples and families -live together as a community in the drug-free environment of Odyssey House. They share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the house, preparing and serving the meals, cleaning, laundry, general office work, and maintaining the house and grounds.

Living and working together is a major part of therapy - but it is only the beginning.

Each resident embarks upon an individual treatment plan, in conjunction with staff and peers, to establish and maintain a life free of drug misuse.
Treatment involves self-examination and behavioural change, developing educational, vocational and life skills, building new supportive relationships and recreational activities.
