The Old Treasury Building is one of Melbourne's finest 19th century buildings.

Visit this exciting museum, showcasing the history of Melbourne and Victoria.

The Old Treasury Building hosts the original gold vaults where gold bullion was stored during the gold rush era, as well as rare and historic documents from Public Record Office Victoria highlighting key moments from Victoria's history.

Come and explore the intriguing gold vaults and you may earn yourself a gold licence!

10am-4pm, Sunday to Friday (Closed Saturdays)

Visiting by Train
Parliament Station is the closest stop to the Old Treasury Building.

Visiting by Tram
Collins Street trams 11, 12, 35, 48, 109 (stop 8 or 10)
Bourke Street trams 86, 96 (stop 9)

Visiting by Car
There is no onsite parking available, however metered parking is available in Macarthur Street or St Andrews Place. Alternatively, secure parking is available in Flinders Lane or the Park Hyatt.

Access
The main entrance for the museum is on Spring Street. Prebooked schools and groups are requested to use the middle door at the back of the building. For help planning your visit see our Accessibility information.
