Omaru Alpacas is owned and run by Rob and Siân Rickards.

We began our journey with these delightful animals back in 2011 at a time when the industry had settled down into a steady growth period. We joined the Australian Alpaca Association (Victorian Central Region) and have since experienced the highs and lows of working with the animals and the land. On the whole we can honestly say, it has been a very positive experience.

We have developed two main aspects of the industry. Primarily we farm the animals for their fleece and to breed animals we can sell. We have also developed the tourism aspect of the industry. We live within one hour of the Melbourne CBD and are easily accessible for day trips and winery tours.

ALPACA FIBRE BARN

From paddock to product... In 2017 we are importing some mini-mill equipment to enable us to turn the wonderful warm luxury fibre we get from our animals, into delightful products. Please watch this space for developments as our mini mill evolves.

We are closed during July and August 2019

Owing to unforeseen circumstances we are CLOSED for two months. For anyone who was hoping to attend an open day during July and August we apologise for any inconvenience and hope you understand that sometimes we have to take unexpected time off from these events. We love to see you all at our open days and we will definitely be open again in September 2019 Thank you for your understanding!
