Established in 1857 during the Victorian gold rush, The Oxford Scholar Hotel has served Melburnians for over 160 years at the northern end of Swanston Street.

In 2019, 'The Scholar' was transformed into a modern bar and eatery in the heart of the revamped RMIT City campus. With new bar, dining, and event spaces, it offers a relaxed and lively atmosphere. We feature a wide selection of local and international craft beers, complemented by a menu of innovative, seasonal dishes and pub classics made from fresh, locally sourced produce.

Designed for flexibility and increased capacity, The Scholar is perfect for hosting a variety of functions, supported by our dedicated and attentive event staff.

We collaborate closely with a fantastic group of independent Aussie craft breweries to provide an eclectic tap listing that will keep you coming back for more. Our bar team constantly rotates some of Australia and Victoria's best offerings, so every visit is a new experience.

Whether you're craving a fruited sour, a crisp wheat beer, or a big hazy pale ale, we have your tastes covered. Enjoy great deals like $10 pints from Mountain Culture and $20 jugs from Mountain Goat that won't strain your wallet.
