Pirates Tavern |
The Pirates Tavern is the clubroom of the Williamstown Maritime Associations members and guests, and is also open to the general public. It has a wonderful ambience and maritime flavour, and is one of Melbourne's hidden gems.
The Tavern is a licensed venue, and to comply with liquor licensing laws all non-members of the WMA must sign the temporary register located at the front door. If you attend the Tavern on a regular basis you may like to consider joining the WMA. Proceeds from the Tavern go back into the site, so by patronising the Tavern you are helping the Seaworks vision become a reality.
Music and Events
The Tavern is renowned for its live music, with bands performing every Friday night. Also, during summer we have live music on the first and third Sundays of the month. The Tavern can be booked for functions, and is a very popular venue for special occasions such as parties, weddings and corporate events.
We welcome people dressing up in pirates' costumes to add to the atmosphere. The Tavern is family-oriented, with children welcome. It's a great place to relax and watch the ever-changing scenery of ships coming and going from the Port Of Melbourne. The beautiful vista across the bay to Melbourne is one of the city's best-kept secrets.
The Pirates Tavern is located on the Seaworks site at 82 Nelson Place in Williamstown's tourist precinct. Access to the Tavern is usually via Ann Street.
If you are coming along Nelson Place turn into Ann Street, and the entrance gate is on the left hand side. Pass through the middle set of gates and the Tavern is to the left. There is car parking off Ann Street.
If visiting Williamstown by ferry, after disembarking at Gem Pier, walk 200 metres to the Seaworks entrance in Nelson Place. If this not open, follow the map to the Ann Street entrance. If arriving by train it is only a short walk from Williamstown Railway Station to Nelson Place.
