The Presidents Cup, one of golf's biggest tournaments, is returning to Melbourne in both 2028 and 2040.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said no course had been locked in to host the events.

The Presidents Cup is a showdown between the best 12 golfers from the US and the best 12 from non-European countries, which makes up the International team.

The biennial tournament brings some of the world's best golfers to Victoria attracting thousands of sports tourists and boost the economy.

Melbourne hosted the cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in 2019, 2011, and 1998, attracting players of the calibre of Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Jason Day and Adam Scott.

No city outside the United States has hosted the event four times since its debut in Gainesville, Virginia, in 1994.

The event returned to Gainesville three times, and has been held in South Africa, Canada and South Korea.

Presidents Cup 2022 - 2028


The President's Cup will take place late September 2022 at Quail Hollow Club outside Charlotte, North Carolina. From there, Canadian's will play host at Royal Montreal in 2024, 2026 is at the new & improved Medinah No. 3, and then as reported, 2028 to Australia. 2030 will head back to US Soil to Bellerive in St. Louis.
