We use only the best quality materials and equipment - our computerised mat cutter is an industry leader - Gunnar machine built in Switzerland is known for its precision and reputation in the industry and all mat boards used in our premise are premium acid free and rag mat boards.

GLASS CUTTING & REPLACEMENT

Our services include glass and mirror cut to size for existing frames or new projects.

Glass options include clear float framing glass, non-reflecting glass, conservation and Museum glass. We can advise you on the best choice of glass for your picture framing needs.

Clear float is standard glass used for framing.

Non-reflecting glass eliminates glare and is ideal for any artwork that is hung in an area that attracts direct sunlight.

Conservation glass reduces 99.9% of UV rays from both external and internal light sources and is an excellent choice for protecting artwork from damaging UV rays.

Museum glass in addition to reducing UV rays from light sources also provides better clarity of the artwork and is ideal for 3D deep framing projects. Although more expensive than other glass types the results justify it's price.

Mirrors can be supplied both plain cut or with a standard 25 mm bevel - The thickness of mirror ranges from 4- 6 mm thick depending on size and requirements.

Mirrors can be cut to fit existing frames or can be made to measure.

CANVAS STRETCHING

We provide an extensive Canvas stretching service.

Special designed Kiln dried stretcher bars are used for your art work so that a taught stretch is achieved without cracking the edges of your canvas painting or canvas photograph Your canvas is stretched to a correct tension as to avoid warping . Special braces are used on oversize pieces to give structure and stability to your Art work.

Stretching your purchased art work allows you to preserve the integrity of the piece in its original condition. Not only does it allow the canvas to breath but you avoid gluing on boards which are more permanent option and ideally not recommended. Stretching allows reversibility which is an important principle in conservation framing.

Stretched art work, for example, indigenous art looks great ready to hang on the wall once stretched. This gives you a modern contemporary feel where the art work speaks for itself.

Decorative frames can be attached on the outside to compliment your stretched art work and give your piece that desired framed finished look, using both modern and ornate gilded frames.

Modern L shape float mouldings are great to create a minimalistic look with a small edged finished. The stretched canvas sits inside this moulding and is a very popular framing option with many different stained and natural finishes.
