Richmond & Burnley Historical Society Inc.

Richmond & Burnley Historical Society Inc.

The Society was established in 1972 through the initiative of the founder Mr Angus Wishart with the support of the Richmond City Council.

In it's early years the society generated a great deal of interest from all sectors of the community. The collections, photographs, resources and information that we have today are attributed to the effort, determination and commitment of those early members of the society and community.

The prime objective of the Society is about collecting and preserving information and material about the history of Richmond, Burnley and Cremorne. Our holdings includes information, photographs, and publications about the people, buildings, homes, industries, schools, societies and groups who were all part of the development of Richmond.

Important Note | Re Vicnet Links

Vicnet | vicnet.net.au | Closing Down
The State Library of Victoria (host of Vicnet) is closing all vicnet services effective from Friday, January 31, 2014, which explains why vicnet links no longer work.
--> Vicnet | vicnet.net.au | Closing Down

We haven't quite sussed this yet. As the notice above explains, Vicnet was closing and yet here in June 2014, the Richmond & Burnley Historical Society Inc. web site on vicnet is still operating. We suspect the organisation must be paying for hosting. (nothing wrong with that).
