Sandringham Yacht Club is the Premier Yacht Club in Victoria and has been in operation for more than one hundred years.
SYC offers a vast range of services and facilities. Our Waterfront area encompasses a state of the art 350 berth fully serviced floating marina. In addition, we have excellent boating support facilities including a boat yard equipped with 40 tonne travel lift, a concessions building with an impressive list of onsite contractors. In addition, we have an onsite chandlery and Victoria's leading yacht and power boat brokerages.
Also situated on the Waterfront is our Off the Beach facility for Junior's and dinghy sailors. The thriving SYC Boating Academy and its sizeable fleet of dinghies and keel boats is also based at SYC and provides entry level into our great sport for people of all ages.
The SYC Clubhouse features a renowned restaurant, Member's bar, Member's lounge, conference and function facilities offering an array of food, beverage and related function services. Our beloved 'Ken King Centre' also provides a marina based food, beverage and bottle shop facility together with excellent change room facilities.
On a year round basis SYC offers a broad range of boating activities for Club Members who are keel boat sailors, recreational cruising enthusiasts or off the beach sailors. Our wonderful facilities, supportive volunteers and professional management see SYC hosting numerous regattas at State, National and International level as well as an array of industry events including our annual boat show.
SYC is a dynamic entity and Membership of our Club is highly valued. You are invited to join our Club and partake in Club life on an ongoing basis.
OFF THE WATER FACILITIES @ SYC
SYC offers a wide variety of food and beverage facilities trading up to seven days per week, these include;
The Breakwater Bar and Grill is the Club restaurant. Offering a modern dining experience, we focus on providing a variety of premium steaks and seafood in a warm casual sea side setting. The Member's Bar is located on the first floor of the Club and trades seven days per week. Lunch is served Tuesday to Sunday from Midday. An open fireplace, plasma TV, internet terminal and wonderful environment are all complimented by friendly, recognisable staff. The adjoining decking overlooking Port Phillip is well patronised right throughout the summer months.
The Member's Lounge is located on the ground floor of the Clubhouse and offers a comfortable setting with lounge chairs, daily newspapers and complimentary tea and coffee. A large plasma TV together with a full size billiard table and internet terminal are accessible to Member's during Clubhouse hours.
Displaying invaluable Olympic memorabilia from years gone by, the 'Olympic Room' is a private room ideal for seminars, conferences, or private functions of a smaller scale. For further information on the Olympic Room please refer to our function packages.
If you are looking for a venue that combines the romance and charm of Melbourne's Premier Yacht Club, with an outstandingly elegant and versatile interior with sweeping views of Port Phillip Bay, then look no further than our main function room 'The Quarterdeck'. Located on the upper deck of the Club, this function space boasts unobstructed views of Port Phillip Bay and seats from 80 - 150 guests comfortably with room for a dance floor (alternatively 200 people with no dance floor). WATER FRONT FACILITIES @ SYC
Marina
SYC provides a 350 berth floating marina, by far the largest and most modern fully serviced floating facility in Victoria and one of the largest in Australia. Currently the maximum boat length that can be accommodated is twenty metres.
Ken King Centre (KKC)
The KKC was part of the Clubs Master plan, developed at the entrance to the marina in 2003. KKC offers food & beverage facilities, toilets, showers and regatta management facilities. The KKC bottleshop is open;
Yard
The yard and hardstand facilities have the capacity to store approximately 48 class design keel boats and 25 trailable boats with overhead area lighting and security 24 hours a day.
Slipping of boats is performed with ease from 2002 onwards with the introduction of a 40 tonne capacity Travelift with a 2 tonne jib crane for lifting mast engines and other miscellaneous works.
No shortage of fuel. Fuel can be purchased between the hours of 6am - 8pm 7 days a week, using a pre-paid card. To purchase your pre-paid card please visit reception or contact the Duty Manager. There is a $5 deposit for the crad.
Concessions Building
Everything you need is located here which consists of yacht and motor boat brokers, chandlery along with a workshop, boat repairs and additional concessions for rigging and a motor mechanic.
BOATING FACILITIES @ SYC
Keel Boat Sailing
SYC offers the broadest range of yachting in Victoria. From entry level social events to Ocean racing, SYC offers sailors of all ability the opportunity to get on the water. Our professional staff can assist with inquires for crewing positions through to organising corporate sailing days and larger regattas.
Off the Beach Sailing (OTB)
This is the Club's 'nursery'. SYC realises the importance of providing kids the opportunity to try sailing. Hosting week-end racing as well as regattas at State, National and International level - producing World and Olympic Champions. Our professional staff can advise as to the best way to get involved with the OTB Sailing Centre.
RECREATIONAL BOATING
As the title implies, our Recreational Boating division provides the opportunity for people to enjoy activities on the water. While still offering the traditional 'Log Trial', there are lunch cruises, week-end 'cruises in company', fishing competitions and the annual 'Great Wooden Boat Race'.
