Satellite Lounge - beaming live entertainment into your suburb
Once upon a time, every Melbourne suburb had a hotel with live music. It was a way of life: you watched Countdown, listened to the radio, and headed off to the pub with your friends to see Australia's best bands. Live music has always been one of life's great pleasures, with the exhilaration of the crowd dancing and singing along.
Times have changed, and you now have to go into the city (mostly) to get your fix of live music. It's not just a thing you can do on a whim, with taxi fares and parking costs adding up very quickly, not to mention standing up for hours trying to get a decent viewing position.
Well now you have another choice .. and it's much closer to home.
Satellite Lounge moves to Village Green Hotel
February 2018
Mulgrave's legendary Village Green Hotel is looking to consolidate its standing as the Live Music Hub for the South Eastern suburbs and as such has invited the Satellite Lounge to take up residence in the dedicated Cabaret Room that exists within the complex. As of February 1st all Satellite Lounge shows will move five minutes down the road to the new location.
The Village Green Hotel (just 2.5KM from our current location) was totally rebuilt in 1998 and offers a variety of dining and entertainment options, ample parking and is close to public transport. The Cabaret Room has its own separate entrance and can comfortably seat up to 200 guests with unimpeded views of the large stage. Its ambient feel and heritage decor offers patrons a unique setting to witness some of the best local and international artists.
The Village Green Hotel has a long and proud history of live music which has seen everyone, from the likes of Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, AC/DC and Chain in the '70s through to artists such as Cold Chisel, INXS and Hunters & Collectors in the '80s, grace the stage of the iconic suburban venue which was the old Village Green Hotel. The Satellite Lounge has already achieved great success in its short 18 month life and with VGH on our side, we look forward to continuing the tradition and bringing you a new and improved entertainment experience!
Australia Day weekend marks the final two shows at the Wheelers Hill Hotel. On Thursday 25th Geoff Achison and The Soul Diggers kick off the festivities and will be performing their award winning original blues and roots music. Special guest Justin Yap Band will also be taking the stage. On Friday 26th, Disturbing the Peace Band will be saluting Vanda & Young and Alberts Productions'. The band will belt out the best of The Easybeats, Stevie Wright, John Paul Young, Rose Tattoo, The Angels & AC/DC and many more! The first two shows to be held at the Village Green Hotel will be Ramble Tamble Creedence Show doing their Creedence show on Fri 2nd and Dylanesque - The Bob Dylan Story on Saturday 10th Feb.
