Premier John Brumby and Minister for Roads announce $60 million, and Federal MP for Deakin Mike Symon announces an $80 million commitment, for the removal of the Springvale Road level crossing and a new grade separation.

We value our relationship with the Federal Government: $440 million has been committed to grade separation by the Victorian Government, but it's a team effort, and the Federal Government are demonstrating that they're prepared to play their part with this project.

Each day there are something like 50,000 vehicles, 218 train movements every day through this intersection, and so freeing this up by putting the train lines underground, by getting the road separation will improve the public transport system operation and also, of course, the efficiency of the road transport system.
