The Barre, Arts Centre Melbourne's sleek space running along the curve of the ground floor of the Theatres Building, offers a touch of luxury and hint of showmanship. It is often filled with the lively pre- and post-show buzz that takes the bar and eatery from early evening to late night...with a dash of panache!
Our modern Australian menu, with its emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients, offers both small and larger dishes to be shared and enjoyed with friends. Choose from a well-considered wine list that gives prominence to local winemakers, an exciting range of craft beers and ciders, or a distinct selection of cocktails and small-batch Australian gins and single malt whiskies from Australia and New Zealand.
With a blend of contemporary aesthetics and sculptural silhouettes, The Barre's welcoming space, designed by Clare Cousins Architects, includes a special nod to Arts Centre Melbourne history - timber floorboards, salvaged from the Hamer Hall redevelopment, recycled into parquetry throughout the main bar.
The world of booze, bubbles and beers is ever-changing and we're excited to offer a new range of alcohol-free options at The Barre. Our range includes non-alcoholic beer from UpFlow Brewing and Sobah, non-alcoholic spirits from Brunswick Aces and Lyre's Spirit Co, alcohol free cocktails plus unique flavour combinations from Non Wines. Our bar offer now gives our patrons the flexibility to enjoy something a bit more exciting than a lemon, lime and bitters.
