As of February 2008 The Gunn Island Hotel has undergone a change in ownership / management. Since then we have been working towards turning the Gunn Island into a great local venue by updating the venue with a minor refurbishment and by concentrating on the following:
Saturdays @ the Gunn
Two years ago on a Saturday night, the Gunn Island had people trying to give sexual favors to the bouncers to let them skip the 10 minute lines outside. Since then the night stopped being promoted properly and as such died away. As of April 2008 we have re-launched Saturday nights with a new promotional and DJ line up. Now every Saturday night the Gunn Island brings you funky jackin' beats to warm you up before you head out, get your party on and make some bad decisions. For those who have been to the Gunn of late you will know what I'm talking about when I say that Saturday nights are starting to jump, with bar records getting consistently smashed, showing glimpses of the craziness from back in the day when hubba bubba cost $0.50.

Live Music
Every Friday night from 9pm we bring you Melbourne's best lineup of young soloists, duets and three piece bands, playing covers with a laid back, chilled out party vibe, with a cheap-as-chips happy hour its the perfect way to kick off the weekend.
Beer Selection
When taking over the rains of the island one thing we new straight away was that the beer was nowhere near cold enough. We spent four months doing diagnostic testing on the beer system and had it completely refurbished and now we are proud to say you will struggle to find a colder beer in Melbourne. With a huge selection of 16 beers including Hoegarrden, Asahi, St. Arnou Pilsner, Bee Sting, Mountain Goat High Tail and Little Creature Pale Ale just to name a few, its one of the biggest beer selections in town. Why not drop in one day with some mates and try to go around the world with all 16, twice!
Great Food
With one of the owners being the head chef, known only as "ducky", he is well renowned for his consistently delectable meals so you are always guaranteed a great feed at a good price. Whether it be the mouth watering porterhouse steak (my favourite) or his infamous chicken parma (none bigger or better) the buzz around town does not lie.

Boasting five NEW plasmas and a big screen with booming surround sound, it's the perfect place to grab your crew, kick back with a cold one and watch every: footy, soccer, rugby, basketball, NFL, cricket, motor sport or even lawns bowls game siren to stumps.
So whether your are an old Gunn head or you have never been to the place, the Gunn is back - with a great location, cheap drinks, cold beer, great food, bangin tunes and a sexy crowd it's the total package - check it out for yourself.
