The LuWOW |
CLOSING FOREVER ON DECEMBER 23rd 2016
The LuWOW is as wildly unique as ever and maintaining its cool and fun party vibe. Amazing floor to ceiling Tiki jungle decor, crazy B-movie cinematic atmosphere and vintage dance tunes, it conjures up images of 60s beach movies, sundrenched Pacific Island holidays and wild Golden Hollywood parties.
COCKTAILS
The LuWOW, famous for its lavish Tiki cocktails is proud to launch its perfected and flamboyant new menu with all the subtleties of John Belushi's Hawaiian shirt.
Go wild with the Headhunter: a rum slushy with banana, lime and cranberry. Ease your troubles with a Pain Killer: a rum punch with coconut, pineapple and nutmeg. Get fruity with a Tropical Itch: bourbon and rum with orange and passionfruit. Dive down deep for a Sea Urchin: spicy ginger spirit with vanilla, lemon, fizz and a tot of gin, big enough to share. Indulge in these and many more.
Cocktails are served with The LuWOW's trademark lavish garnishes. Order the King Maitai, their house speciality and you can take home The LuWOW's own exclusive Tiki mug as a souvenir.
The Big Kahunas are giant party cocktails to share with your friends: Cannibal Canoe, Santo Tiki-la
and Easter Island Ice Tea are all equally delicious and presented in huge Tiki vessels. Designed to get the party swinging.
The LuWOW proudly uses only fine quality spirits, they blend their own syrups and use fresh juices which all goes to make for an incredible cocktail experience.
FOOD
To accompany their great cocktails The LuWOW are now serving fresh, made-to-order Japanese Izakaya style fare. An uncomplicated menu of dishes to share, with an emphasis on freshness, simplicity and taste.
Examples of food on offer are chicken karage: seasoned crunchy chicken pieces; gyoza: a current favourite, steamed and lightly crisped dumplings with a pork and chive filling; sushi of the day: hand rolled with seasonal fresh fillings; kushi katsu: skewers of pumpkin, sweet potato, chicken or okra lightly crumbed and fried served with a dipping sauce.
Korean chef Kim Mincheol trained in Japan as a Kaiseki chef, the Japanese equivalent to haute cuisine and is a relative newcomer to Melbourne. He has brought a taste of the Orient to the Tiki tropical paradise that is The LuWOW.
Every Friday the LuWOW presents a tropical culinary special, the Hula Hog Roast. Slow roasted Hawaiian style pork marinated in rum, pineapple and spices. Served with accompaniments plus a Hula dance-show from the Nuholani Wahines and live exotica band Combo Pacifica.
Created by husband and wife team Josh & Barbara Collins The LuWOW is their third venture in Australia, following hot on the heels of the Hula Bula Bar and Devilles Pad, both in Perth and both now successfully sold on. Previous to this they built Tiki bars in London and Belgium as well as organising and hosting retro music festivals in UK, Spain and Las Vegas. Josh and Barbara really do know how to throw a great party. They have not skimped on anything in The LuWOW putting their passion and expertise of running extravagant shows into the weekend nights that they hold at The LuWOW.
