Trolls: Coburg Choir |
The 20 songsters that are the Trolls sing (secretly) under a bridge in Coburg.
The 150-year-old bluestone bridge under Murray Road near the former Pentridge Prison provides a cavernous space that has great acoustics.
Choir drector Sue Johnson says the choir was formed in 2010 and has been singing under the bluestone bridge ever since.
Described by Eddie Perfect as Melbourne's best kept choral secret. Huddled and harmonising under a bridge next to Merri Creek are The Trolls - and they're not ones of folklore. They're a 20-person community choir directed by Sue Johnson, who told Eddie Perfect on ABC Radio Melbourne they've managed to stay a secret for more than a decade.
The name courtesy of a cheeky cyclist that shouted "You should call yourselves the Trolls."
The choir rehearses at the nearby Newlands senior citizens' centre and discovered the space, after heading outdoors one fine evening.
