Victoria Chorale: Coming Home - Concert

Following its highly successful European Tour, Victoria Chorale returns home to join forces with the innovative Ballarat Wind Orchestra, western Victoria's foremost wind ensemble for an evening of inspiring music in Coming Home, a concert conducted by Joint Music Director, Mario Dobernig with distinguished guest Mezzo Soprano, Sally-Anne Russell.

This special collaborative concert celebrates the power of music to connect us with places, memories, and one another. Audiences will experience a rich and diverse program of music from Australia and abroad performed by Victoria Chorale on its recent international tour, alongside exciting new works and celebrated repertoire for choir and wind orchestra.

It will feature the Australian Premiere of The Two Trees, a beautifully haunting choral work drawing on William Butler Yeats' famous poem composed by Victoria Chorale's award-winning concert pianist, William Schmidt.

Other works include Stabat Mater by Giuseppe Verdi, the second and most intense part of his four sacred pieces with its powerful operatic-style choral and solo performances, and Gustav Holst's Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence that showcases the wind and brass ensemble blending with the choir to create complex harmonies.
