Victorian Snow Season | 2026 Launch
The traditional start to the Victorian ski season starts on the King's Birthday weekend.

Victoria's alpine regions are set to welcome the return of winter enthusiasts as the 2026 snow season officially gets underway over the King's Birthday long weekend, beginning Saturday 6 June.
Across the state's mountain resorts, visitors can expect a festive atmosphere as ski fields, alpine villages and snow play areas celebrate the opening of the season with a variety of entertainment and family-friendly activities.
At Mt Buller, visitors can enjoy a weekend of apres-ski festivities featuring live DJs, firepits, fireworks displays and entertainment for all ages, including sled dog appearances and the popular Animals of the Magical Mountain presentation.
Falls Creek will mark the season opening with village-wide entertainment, including live music performances, public art displays, mural walks and evening fireworks, complemented by spectacular fire-twirling displays.
Mt Hotham's opening weekend program includes a range of social events, from the annual Hotham SnowBall and trivia competitions to a French-inspired cheese luncheon. Families can also make the most of the Hotham Hub Snow Play and Activity Centre, offering tobogganing and snow-based activities.
Visitors to Mt Baw Baw can join in a variety of fun events including snow games, tug-of-war contests and themed entertainment, while Lake Mountain will host a Welcome to Country ceremony led by Taungurung representatives along with appearances from the resort's mascot, Lenny the Leadbeater Possum.
For those seeking a more relaxed alpine experience, Mt Stirling offers opportunities for early-season exploration, cafe treats and preparation for the winter months ahead.
Alpine Resorts Victoria Chief Executive Officer Amber Gardner said favourable weather conditions and forecast snowfalls were providing optimism for the season ahead.
"Opening weekend is an exciting time for our alpine communities, businesses and visitors, and we look forward to welcoming guests back to Victoria's mountain resorts for the start of another snow season," she said.
