The Victorian Telecommunications Museum Inc. was established in 2003 by a small number of members of the Australian Historic Telephone Society.

The original intent was the formation of a group with its focus more toward the network aspects of telecommunications.

That group evolved into the separate incorporated body that it is today, with its stated goal of preserving "Australia's Telecommunications Heritage for the Present and for the Future".

The VTM is not a group of individual collectors but a group of like minded persons with a dedication to the preservation of our country's telecommunications infrastructure and history.

We are supported informally by Telstra Corporation who allows us use of building facilities for our displays. In turn we act as custodian of the corporate historic artifact collection and provide historic research services.

The Victorian Telecommunications Museum is located at the Hawthorn Telephone Exchange, 375 Burwood Road, Hawthorn.
