Wavecare Counselling |
Wavecare has been providing support to people in the City of Monash for more than 40 years, helping individuals in need of assistance due to illness, loss, grief, abuse, anxiety, depression, homelessness, disability and many other forms of traumatic experiences that individuals may face.
At Wavecare we provide counselling and support services for individuals suffering. We have functioned for many years with the support of Monash City Council, various corporate sponsors and volunteers within our community that donate their time to assist in running various different types of programs for several different purposes including fund raising activities.
At Wavecare we aim to assist individuals in dire need by providing affordable counselling and mental health support services.
Our practitioners within our organisation have had many years of education and professional training, allowing them to specialise in many different types of therapeutic interventions.
Our psychologists specialise in various different areas of mental health treatment options enabling them to cover a wide range of different therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy.
An over 65 Socialisation social support group is also run every Tuesday and Friday known as Glencare, which runs with the support of volunteers and is funded by the Federal Government.
This program is also known as the Commonwealth Home Support Program and the aim of this government funded program is to provide support for senior citizens within the City of Monash who may be experiencing social isolation.
The program aims at developing long-lasting friendships, promoting individual health and well-being and preserving social connectedness.
'Glencare' organises a range of activities such as monthly outings, leisure games, crafts, gentle exercises, guest speakers, entertainment and music.
