WINNER 2018 Melbourne Cup - CROSS COUNTER (23)

WINNER 2018 Melbourne Cup - CROSS COUNTER (23)

The race was run on Tuesday 6th November 2018.

The 2018 Melbourne Cup has been run and won with Kerrin McEvoy piloting Godolphin galloper Cross Counter to victory for trainer Charlie Appleby.

Godolphin has been chasing an elusive Cup win for over 20 years but that persistence has paid off thanks to a brilliant come-from-behind win that saw Cross Counter swoop past his rivals to score by a length over fellow raider Marmelo.

It was also Kerrin McEvoy's third win in the Cup after saluting on Brew in 2000, Almandin in 2016 and now Cross Counter in 2018.
