Australia Day 2025
The next gazetted public holiday is Australia Day on Sunday 26th January 2025.
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Observed annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet at Port Jackson in New South Wales, and the raising of the British flag at Sydney Cove by Arthur Phillip.
The national public holiday - officially known as Australia Day - will be marked on Monday, January 27.

The day and date has long been a difficult symbol for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who see it as a day of sorrow and mourning.
Since 26 January, 1788, Indigenous people have endured oppression and dispossession on a wide scale.

There'll be an official flag-raising ceremony around 9.15am.
*An Invasion Day Rally will start at Parliament House around 10am.
At midday, there'll be a 21-gun salute at the Shrine of Remembrance, and from 1pm there'll be live performances at Federation Square.
