Brighton Rotary

Since its formation on 24th September, 1973, the Rotary Club of Brighton has lived up to the ideals of Rotary in its community service, fund raising and social programs.

From the relatively modest beginnings with 23 members in the cafeteria of the former Sandringham Technical School, to its present complement of 115 members at the Milanos Hotel, Brighton Beach, it has become the third largest Rotary Club in Australia.

The influence of the club is all over the Bayside area and far beyond.

The Club established and club members continue to run a number of separate community organisations including the Bayside Recreational Centre 'Brighton Rec", BayCISS ( Bayside Community Information and Support Services) and Violence Free Families.

The club runs a number of fund raising events including The Bayside Art Show, Celebration of Women in Football breakfast , Great Australia Day Swim, Night of Stars and annual Brighton Lunch

The club's broad philosophy is to contribute to a balance of projects across a range of community needs and across both domestic and international causes.

Locally, the club has supported many Bayside, Melbourne wide and nationally based community projects , as well as offering extensive mentoring programs and providing management support to various social enterprises

Internationally, the club has built and rebuilt schools in Samoa, East Timor, PNG, provided medical support and training in various Asia Pacific countries , actively involved in water projects in Cambodia and supported many other Rotary International supported global charitable initiatives.

The starting point for the club's many activities starts at a weekly meeting held each Thursday, 6 for 6.30 pm at Milanos Hotel, Brighton Beach, with meetings addressed by a roll call of eminent and interesting speakers and various themed social nights during the year.

Members of the public are always welcome to visit our club any Thursday evening
