It's the 147th edition of the Caulfield Cup.

It also happens to be the world's richest turf handicap over 2400 metres and one of Australia's most sought-after races where winning owners get to take home the iconic $155,000 9-carat gold trophy.

Caulfield Cup Day is described as the racetrack's "most magnificent affair" and features only one Group 1 race, but it's the big one - the Caulfield Cup (2400m). The Caulfield Cup is one of Australia's best-known races and is an ideal lead-up to the Melbourne Cup during Melbourne's world-famous spring carnival.

The Caulfield Cup is supported on the card by two Group 2 events - the McCafe Caulfield Sprint and Schweppes Tristarc Stakes - as well as multiple Group 3 races.

MRC Dress Code Style Guide


Gentlemen

Gentlemen and boys over 13 years of age are required to wear a collared shirt and tailored pants with jacket sports coat or blazer plus a tie at all times. However from the 1st December until 31st March jackets and ties are optional and short sleeved collared dress shirts may be worn. Tailored shorts for gentlemen are also permitted.

Ladies

Ladies and girls over 13 years of age are expected to maintain a suitable standard of dress in keeping with the distinction of the Members' Reserve.

Children

Children 13 years of age and under should be neatly dressed in keeping with the standard of dress expected from ladies and gentlemen in the Members' Reserve. Boys must wear a collared shirt and tailored pants at all times.

ATTIRE NOT PERMITTED IN MEMBERS' RESERVE

The following items of clothing are not permitted in the Members' Reserve at any time: pullovers and cardigans (as outer wear) denim jackets zippered waist length casual jackets any clothing revealing bare midriff jeans denim shorts board shorts torn/dilapidated shorts cargo shorts running/sports shorts or long shorts running/sports shoes thongs or any dilapidated footwear.

Members and their guests may be refused entry to the Members' Reserve by Melbourne Racing Club staff if the above regulations are not adhered to.

Management reserves the right to exercise discretion in respect to dress regulations.

Getting there & getting home


Members' parking
The Members' Car Park Pass provides access to one of three designated parking areas:

Members' Maple Car Park - via Gate 2 Station Street
Members' Centre Car Park - via the vehicle tunnel at the roundabout at the intersection of Glen Eira Road and Kambrook Road
Guineas Car Park - via Normanby Road

Car Park Passes must be affixed to the inside of a car windscreen prior to the vehicle entering and whilst the car remains in the Members' Car Parks at all racecourses.

Public parking
Free public parking is provided in the Centre Car Park on race days with entry via the roundabout on the corner of Kambrook and Glen Eira Roads.

WeDrive
WeDrive provides a truly unique service offering a safe ride home for you and your car (or just your car if needed). Depending on your preferences WeDrive can drive you home in your car when you're ready to leave (dropping your friends off on the way if needed) drive your car home after dropping you off somewhere else after the races or get your car home for you (immediately or by morning) so you can continue to enjoy your race day. The service can be booked at any time by calling 1300-WEDRIVE (1300-933748) visiting wedrive.com.au or downloading the app.

Taxi
Patrons can be dropped off at the entrance gates on Station Street. At the conclusion of a race day event taxis can be located at the taxi rank outside the main entrance at Gate 23 or Sir John Monash Drive. To get to Sir John Monash Drive walk from the racecourse across Normanby Road and out under the railway tunnel.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT


Train
Frankston Dandenong Cranbourne and Pakenham lines depart regularly from Flinders Street to Caulfield Station located directly opposite the course. The journey from the City takes approximately 15 minutes. Additional services are provided during peak times.

Tram
Racegoers can catch a Route 3 or 3a tram and alight at Stop 56. From the city Route 3 travels along Swanston Street and St. Kilda Road and operates weekdays only. Route 3a travels along Swanston Street St Kilda Road and St Kilda Beach and operates weekends only. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes. From East Malvern Route 3/3a services travel along Waverley Road.

Bus
Access to Caulfield is available from Stud Park Shopping Shopping Centre Wellington Road Monash University (Clayton) and Chadstone Shopping Centre via SmartBus Route 900. Travel time from Stud Park is approximately 50 minutes. Route 624 buses from Kew Auburn Station Tooronga Station and Holmesglen Station also operate to Caulfield.
