Described as a Clash of Titan's, The Wallabies clinched a thilling ONE POINT win over a gallant Ireland here tonight. Saturday 1NOV2003.
A packed Telstra Stadium Melbourne watched a classic rugged World Cup rugby encounter. Ireland had their chances in the closing minutes, but sturdly Australian defence held onto the slender margin to clinch the game.
The win puts Australia at the top of it's Pool to next play Scotland in Brisbane. Ireland returns to Melbourne next Saturday for a showdown with France.
