Comedy Theatre

The Comedy Theatre is built on an historic site for theatregoers - the former Hippodrome, home of circus performances and melodramas.
Built in 1928, the theatre is a blend of European flavours. The exterior is a replica of a Florentine palace and the interior shows a strong Spanish influence. The Comedy Theatre still maintains a lot of its original characteristics including balcony seating, a generous foyer and an elegant staircase.
Audiences can enjoy a diverse range of theatre and live entertainment including comedy. With seating for 1000 patrons, famous shows to have played the Comedy Theatre stage include, Keating, Menopause the Musical, Calendar Girls, Harp on the Willow, Waiting for Godot, The Rocky Horror Show, Avenue Q and Rock of Ages.
