Crohn's & Colitis Australia |
Crohn's and Colitis Australia (CCA) is the peak national body representing more than 75,000 Australians living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
CCA supports the Crohn's and colitis community with a focus on confidential support programs, including education, advocacy, counselling, increasing awareness, and generating and utilising funds for research and support.
The Australian Crohn's & Colitis Association (now CCA) was founded in 1985 by Angela McAvoy, after she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and discovered there were no support services available in Australia. Angela led the organisation as a volunteer for 21 years before the first CEO was employed in 2006. In February 2009, CCA merged with Australian Crohn's and Colitis Association Queensland.
While we invest in research and wait for a cure for inflammatory bowel disease, CCA will continue to advocate for world best treatments and health services for those living with Crohn's and colitis. Through our programs we offer education and support for Australia's growing Crohn's and colitis community. Importantly, our services are offered free of charge. As we receive very little funding from government sources, we rely on the generosity of volunteers, donors and community fundraising to continue our work.
