New Zealand-born artist Dr Deborah Wood has exhibited across Australia for 40 years.
Into the maw was developed during her treatment at Ballarat's world-class cancer centre, BRICC, where Wood explored ways where the human mind can create a framework of meaning through imagination and magical thinking.
This artistic process enabled Wood to both make sense of, and regain some agency over, a circumstance in which she was suddenly swept 'into the maw' of medicine's marvelous machinery
